A Valentine's Poem (in Ch'ol)

So technically I took this one from one of my linguist buddies (me),
who cares, I love Ch'ol Mayan, Libra doesn't. Here it is:

u-chak nich
u-yax nich
in-ch'eniiy
'atimaw in-ohl.

Flowers are red
and flowers are blue
And I said it:
You make my heart swell (with joy).

  1. So I just spent the last 5 mins repeating the poem in Ch'ol Mayan and my brother walked by and gave me the weirdest look. haha :)
I wish I had the patience/dedication/interest to do what you do!

  2. Woah. A full five minutes. I'm assuming that you know how to pronounce Ch'ol? If not, the X's are like SH in English, and the CH' is pretty much impossible to explain over the internet. Oh, and CH is basically the same as CH in English.

Wow. That's the first ever compliment I have recieved for my work with linguistics. That's going into my Book of Encouragement for sure. If you wanted to, you could do it. Wishes are currently being granted, and I'm taking requests on language construction / learning. Thanks again, really.

  3. I'm pretty sure I murdered the pronunciation. Ah okay, well I probably said it all wrong, but at least I tried right? haha

No one else has ever complimented you on linguistics? How about the Mayan works and all? Because those are quite amazing. Haha, you lost me at "If you wanted to...". You're welcome:), and thank you for all the comments as well :). I haven't gotten that many in a while.
