The Heartfelt Bit (Or, The Universe As I See It)

(I posted the usual poem first just because I got bored.)
Today could have been better, but that's okay. One does not necessarily need to experience excellent days in such a singular, boring fashion. On a positive note, a friend called and told me to write a poem about trench warfare because "It's depressing." I told him that I wouldn't, but secretly I think I'm going to use it as a source of inspiration.

I felt pretty left out today, but I live in pain and I like challenges. Pain is rare, and it is one of the few things left in our world which cannot be misunderstood. There are only three such things: Pain, Fear, and Love. Love is the most short lived oftentimes, and people tend to mistake it for something much worse. Love is as quiet and shy as obsession is loud and obnoxious. Fear is the most dark. Fear fills you with an undeniable compulsion to act. Much like "love." Fear is the root of all hatred and the root of all evil. Hatred is a corruption of the soul. Pain. Pain is a poison, seeping into each and every part of you, weighing you down like lead in your veins. Love is fire, burning away the burdens of your pain that you carry with you. Love scares away the creatures of the dark that your fear. Without all of these, you are no better than a machine. A husk. An empty shell of a body, with the soul inside having long ago withered away. Life isn't just something terrible that you just have to live through, it's hardwired to be difficult, and hardwired to be painful. So, take up your pen, and pour out your world like you are spilling your own hot blood onto the page.

"Words -- so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them." -N. Hawthorne

Here, then, is the beauty of words. No matter who I am, and no matter where you are, my words will convey my world to you despite any prejudice you have, despite whether or not you hate me. They simply are. They are my reality, a torrential rain of emotions, a river of pain, and world where nobody gets what they want unless they head for it straight on. A world where doing so will be your death. So, when trapped in a box and chained to the earth, dream outside of the box, and invent your own world. Then it won't matter how many chains they put on you; you will always be free.
